Job Location: Winston Salem, NC

Job Summary:

The Manager, Brand Engagement serves as a key member of the PR & Communications team, working hand-in-hand with a dedicated Brand Director to develop and execute valuable marketing content that engages our Members, Vendor Partners, prospects and the industry while showcasing our products and services. This includes, but is not limited to, press releases, blog articles, newsletters, brochures, one-pagers, web copy, social media posts and media opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as head content creator for a select group of Nationwide product and services brands to help increase both exposure and adoption of these key priorities among our Members, prospects, Vendor Partners and the industry
  • Create customized tactical plans for each area of responsibility that support our overall communications strategy, and maintain and execute upon a comprehensive content calendar for all communications channels
  • Implement consistent themes, messaging and branding in all communication touch points, ensuring each adheres to NMG brand standards
  • Write, disseminate and follow up on press releases for each area of responsibility
  • Contribute to strategy of and content development for Nationwide’s brand journalism hub, especially around each area of responsibility
  • Utilizing metrics available from cross-functional partners, continually analyze key communications KPIs and use findings to refine and optimize content strategies
  • Work with creative partners (graphic designers and our television production arm) to create engaging social media content and engagement opportunities
  • Work closely with key trade reporters on feature stories / Member profiles, whether reported by the media organization or submitted by NMG and republished by the media organization
  • Assist with updates to the Nationwide Marketing Group external website
  • Lead Nationwide Learning Academy classes at PrimeTime, as needed
  • Travel to NMG PrimeTime events (twice annually); additional travel to be negotiated as needed
  • Assist with administrative functions of digital marketing as needed, i.e. special projects, maintenance of marketing/advertising visuals, assets for internal and external distribution, etc.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field
  • At least five years of relevant work experience, preferably in the appliance, bedding, furniture or CE industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Deep experience copywriting and editing in both short- and long-form content
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Able to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to multi-task and assign priorities
  • Able to understand the voice of multiple brands and what engages their target audiences, and be able to switch between each frequently and appropriately
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and a quick learner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience / knowledge of SEO a plus
  • Experience / knowledge of WordPress a plus

Work Environment:

Must be able to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in written form to express and exchange ideas. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent typing, writing, bending, and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer use at workstation for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel.
