We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead all accounting functions within the business, including GL accounting, payroll, tax, and accounts payable/receivable while also supporting finance, human resources, and operations. As a Zelus Accounting Manager, you will be expected to:
- Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of the general ledger, including overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
- Supervise the payroll function, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, and that all related tax and regulatory requirements are met.
- Oversee tax filings, ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, and manage any tax-related issues or audits with the support of an outside tax firm.
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring that invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner and that customer payments are accurately recorded and reconciled.
- Efficiently manage the annual audit process in collaboration with external auditors. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, prepare essential documents, and address audit inquiries, while streamlining and improving financial procedures and controls.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Finance & Operations to support financial planning, budgeting, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively in a distributed work environment.
- Fulfill other duties and responsibilities to support the Operations team as needed.
A qualified candidate will be able to demonstrate most of the following and will be excited to learn the rest:
- Extensive academic and/or industry experience in accounting.
- Expertise managing and processing data using complex spreadsheets, built within both Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Experience working with business and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Avalara, and Rippling.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
- Keen attention to detail and a desire for continuous improvement.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an established record as an effective collaborator.
Salaries for an Accounting Manager range from $90,000 to $115,000 USD. Compensation paid in non-US currency will be in an equivalent range adjusted by differences in total cost of employment.
