Career Advancement Opportunity Available for a dedicated and caring professional to cross-train in mammography. This full-time Mammography Technologist Trainee opportunity will work and train at our Arcadia and Pasadena centers within the Mammography departments. We will provide hands-on training after you complete your training and obtain your California State Mammography License, you will become a full-time Mammography Technologist with us.

As a Mammography Technologist Trainee, will participate in all training necessary with the goal of achieving Mammography Technologist status. The Trainee will be crossed-trained in mammography and will assist in performing digital mammography exams on scheduled patients during hours assigned to work. Provide complete and accurate paperwork and work with the Mammography Technologist to submit all necessary exam information to the radiologists in a timely manner. Maintain a clean work area and pleasant atmosphere for patients & co-workers.

This full-time Mammography Technologist Trainee will train at the Glendora and Arcadia centers within the Mammography departments. Must participate in on-the-job and hands-on training with the Mammography Technologists. Must be able to take direction well and follow instructions. After the training phase is complete and the trainee is eligible for the state exam, the trainee must be able to pass California State Mammography License. After passing the state exam then the trainee should be transferred into the Mammography Technologist role.

Pay Range: $38/hour

The Schedule is as Follows:

Training : Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Once Trained/Licensed for Mammography:

  • Weekdays: 8am-5pm/9am-6pm/10am-7pm (variable)
  • Saturday rotation: 6am-3pm/8am-5pm (variable)

What You Will Do:

  • Perform high quality digital mammography exams per the company policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor patient's well-being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Guide patients through this sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
  • Respond to physician needs and questions regarding patients and assist radiologists with patient procedures if needed.
  • Participate in projects and/or meetings, and complete other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Provide thorough and attentive patient care throughout examinations.
  • Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting technical factors to obtain the most optimal mammogram possible on each individual patient.
  • Evaluates the technical factors of positioning, compression, exposure, contrast, sharpness, noise, artifacts, collimation and labeling on every patient prior to dismissal.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness in accordance with established imaging center policies and procedures for infection control.
  • Process mammography exams thru PACS and MRS programs.
  • Accurately completing all paperwork required for efficient patient tracking.
  • Maintains examination rooms cleaned. Stocks necessary medical and radiological/mammography supplies.
  • Cross training and flexing through other department as needed.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

Trainee is Required to:

  • Complete a 40-hour initial Mammography Training Course Webinar with 8-hours of training in digital mammography included
  • Complete 8-hours of training in Tomosynthesis
  • Pass the California State Mammography Licensing Exam
  • Complete at least 25 screening mammography exams

What Your Will Bring:

  • A current California State License in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology and ARRT (R) certification. Must be full-scope X-Ray.
  • BLS certification.
  • Must be able to learn new skills in advanced radiology procedures such as Tomosynthesis, biopsies, and related procedures.
  • Are resilient, adaptable and compassionate. Patients can be nervous about their exams; we look to you to provide a calm and friendly demeanor, and provide a professional and positive healthcare delivery experience.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint areas for radiography and mammography with emphasis on body placement and positioning.
  • Basic knowledge of radiology/mammography equipment and testing.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards common to positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
  • Skill in trouble-shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

  • Environment: Work is performed primarily in the mammography area with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions.
  • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an imaging center setting; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight. This position requires the incumbent to experience periods of prolonged standing, walking, carrying (transporting, moving, or positioning), climbing (ascending, descending) steps, reaching and lifting (10 pounds for less than 10% of work-shift time). Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; will sit less than 10% of their work-shift time; will stand for 90% of their work-shift time; will walk for approximately 60-70% of the work-shift time; must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel approximately 90-100% of work-shift time; must be able to reach with hands and arms approximately 70-80% of work-shift time; must be able to talk or hear and verbally communicate to exchange information approximately 90-100% of work-shift time. Must be able to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary. Will travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, as needed.
  • Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens. Must have ability to ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. Must be able to detect, perceive, or identify. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The lights in the office include fluorescent lighting.
  • Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
