This position is responsible for providing quality mammography as required by the American College of Radiology. This includes the positioning, processing, and documentation required to ensure that standards for performance are met. Responsible for performing interventional breast procedures including biopsies, cyst aspirations, stero-tactic localizations, etc. The technologist is responsible for all follow up required including patient letters, physician reports and surgical outcomes. The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing routine diagnostic radiographic procedures (including portables, OR, ER, c-arm, fluoroscopy) during low and high volume changes.
High School graduate required. Graduate of an accreditedSchool of Radiology. Current ARRT registration. Current AHA BLS Certification required. Mammography Technologist must be registered or registry eligible (must have registry within 6 months of employment).
Must be able to push, pull, stand, turn, stoop, reach for, lift, carry and assist other personnel in this capacity in the Radiology Department. Must be able to perform the normal duties of an R.T., i.e., CPR, visual acuity, hearing acuity, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Works in a well-lighted, ventilated radiographic room. Subject to muscle strain due to lifting patients and equipment. Subject to exposure to communicable diseases and infections. Subject to exposure to ionizing radiation. Subject to cuts, punctures, and electrical shock when utilizing equipment and supplies. Must be able to work in stressful situations with a high degree of accuracy. Must be able to work irregular schedules, holidays, and weekends. Must be able to utilize discretion in handling confidential information. Must possess good communication skills, by using tact and professionalism in contact with other personnel and patients.
