Job Description PURPOSE OF POSITION To provide X-Ray and mammography services to patients AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES X-Rays Mammography SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Reviews patient information and referral a. Reviews medical information and interprets requisitions accurately b. Follows accepted mammography and X-Ray protocols for all examinations performed c.
Applies knowledge of Universal Precautions to minimize exposure to/spread of infectious organisms d. Complies with Infection Control policies and procedures, fire and medical emergency protocols, administrative policies governing patient abuse, patient rights, and confidentiality of information (HIPAA). e.
Utilizes two patient identifiers for patient identification. f. Reports all examination discrepancies to Radiologist, dept head and/or providers as needed.
2. Documentation: a. Keeps record/logs of all examinations performed b.
Documents all examinations in the Radiology system in an accurate and timely fashion c. Documents all relevant patient medical information to aid the interpreting Radiologist in diagnosis. d.
Corrects any errors with archival of examinations in a timely fashion. 3. Equipment Utilization and Maintenance a.
Monitors functionality of diagnostic equipment b. Utilizes diagnostic equipment in a safe and productive manner c. Observes and reports any malfunctioning of equipment to his/her supervisor d.
Maintains preventative maintenance and accompanying reports 4. Quality Control/Quality Assurance a. Ensures mammograms and X-Rays are of optimal quality and that all patient information is accurate b.
Knowledge of QC/QA program as mandated by MQSA/FDA guidelines c. Participates in QA projects and program meetings as assigned. d.
Ensure examination rooms are stocked and clean. 5. Technical Development a.
Participates in ongoing professional development b. Maintains current registry certification, licensure and education requirements 6. Conforms to policies governing uniform dress code, attendance and punctuality.
7. Maintains customer service expectations according to ICARE standards 8. Maintains all patients' information (confidentially) according to HIPPA compliance standards.
9. Assists and directs patients in preparation of examination (change into gowns and getting patient on /off examination tables). 10.
Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications 1. For Supervisory Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and two (2) years of Radiologic Technologist experience performing duties consistent with Assignment Levels I and II, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
2. For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced level certification for the performance of these procedures. Department Preferences QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S): Licensed Radiological Technologist American Registry of Radiological Technologist Certified Mammographer EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Associate Degree in Radiological Technologist KNOWLEDGEABLE IN: EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED: 3D Mammography equipment, computer, fax machine, scanner, copier COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED GE PACS, Epic YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years' experience preferred Benefits All Radiologic Technologists in Assignment Levels II and III shall receive a differential of $7,500 per annum to be cross-trained on different modalities of radiologic imaging and to be cross-assigned (once trained) to different imaging settings depending on patient volume and staffing needs within a facility.
