Job Description
Bethany Community Services, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing housing and supportive services to seniors in Haverhill, MA and surrounding communities. Founded in 1965, Bethany manages 550+ units of senior independent housing and oversees 33 certified Assisted Living units spread over five separate communities.
We are currently seeking a full-time (35 hours) per week, Maintenance Technician/Custodian to support our downtown properties in Haverhill, MA.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Primarily responsible for loading trash and recyclables onto the company dump truck and transporting all trash/recyclables to local transfer stations for unloading.
- Responsible for cleaning, sanitizing and basic upkeep of the property as needed. This may include multiple properties including the buildings, facilities, and grounds.
- Driving company vehicles is required. This would include a dump truck, pick-up truck, and other vehicles. Clean driving record is required.
- Provide assistance to maintenance staff for general maintenance/custodial tasks.
- Ability to frequently use general maintenance tools, supplies and equipment such as, but not limited to, hand tools, pressure washers, blowers, paint equipment, ice removal equipment, ladders, landscaping equipment and safety equipment.
- Perform general maintenance duties as requested, such as removing carpet, interior painting, sweeping/mopping floors, vacuuming, re-filling soap dispensers, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
- Snow removal by plowing, snow blowing, shoveling, and spreading salt/sand as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, specifically Fair Housing regulations, building codes and environmental laws and regulations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Willingness to be a team player and help wherever help may be needed to support the organization.
- Other duties as assigned as may be required to meet the organization’s needs.
- Possible on-call availability in case of emergency.
COMPETENCIES
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English is required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on occasion may be required.

Pay: From $23.00 per hour
