Maintenance Worker (Temporary Not-To-Exceed 1 Year)

This position is located with Bureau of Indian Affairs, Truxton Canon Agency, Valentine, AZ. Incumbent reports to Facility Manager and performs mixed maintenance duties, including major and minor improvements to the buildings, grounds, and utility systems located in the compound of the Agency.Qualifications: Experience: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C; for additional information, click here http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/x-118c/Tabindx.asp Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must meet any screen-out element(s) listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which applying. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
-Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (screen-out)
-Knowledge of technical practices
-Knowledge of materials
-Ability to interpret instructions, blueprints, specifications, etc.
-Ability to use and maintain tools and operate and maintain equipment and use of measuring instruments.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is moderate to heavy, and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders, stilts or scaffolding, and bend ,stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (exposure to temperature extremes). Tools, equipment, and heavy objects involved present chances of serious injury. Protective equipment and clothing such as safety shoes, safety glasses or sub glasses, gloves, rain gear, hard hats, coveralls, respirators, and other protective gear are required, which are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
