Job Summary: The Lead Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all manufacturing and supporting equipment as well as building and property systems.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee, direct, and train Maintenance Associates, as needed.
- Maintain and repair machinery, equipment, piping, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems of production machinery in the facility. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and fluid components.
- Listen, observe, and test machines or equipment to detect malfunction or abnormality and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors, foreman, engineers, production operators, and other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines. Operates equipment to test for malfunctions and to verify proper repairs.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical drive systems, hydraulic, water, air, hand valves, piping, and minor electrical work in the facility.
- Document time spent to include troubleshooting, repair, delays, preparation, part and tool retrieval, etc. Required to document all work performed accurately in computerized maintenance management system. Work instruction development.
- Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation.
- Track and store department inventory.
- Perform maintenance on roof top units to include filter changes, grease bearings and adjust or replace belts.
- Grease forklifts, pallet jacks, exhaust fans, trash compactor and cardboard balers.
- Clean out the exhaust ducts on the engravers.
- Repair and maintain the irrigation system.
- Maintenance of powder coat equipment.
- Maintenance of equipment in the Steel Prep Department and assisting in the mechanical work on the equipment, as needed.
- Rebuild and repair equipment in off-season storage to prepare for next use cycle.
- Assist in the direction and oversight of subcontractors on-site.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in facility maintenance.
- Strong trades skills and mechanical abilities.
- Strong communication skills.
- The desire to learn and increase knowledge of our specific equipment.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to climb ladders and other equipment, to crawl, crouch, reach, balance, stoop, grasp, kneel, walk, push, pull, lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive motions.
- Exerting force up to 100 pounds occasionally to push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- The ability to wear personal protective equipment as required to include, but not limited to, ear protection, safety glasses, face shield, hardhat, safety shoes, dust mask, respirator, and gloves.
- Skillful use of hands.
