POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager with the operation and maintenance of YTT-managed facilities and properties. Other duties may include general laborer work including hauling goods, painting, basic carpentry, landscaping, snow removal.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Maintenance Manager with preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment and facility components.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain and tracks material supplies needed for operation of building and medical service components including inventory, ordering, material receiving, stocking, tracking of inventory supplies.
- Perform general aesthetic upkeep which can include painting, basic carpentry, landscaping, or snow removal.
- Assist in carrying out regularly scheduled equipment checkups or repairs, as requested.
- On call maintenance for facilities.
- Coordinate and/or assist with special projects as assigned or requested.
- Must comply with federal laws and regulations.
- Performs related duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the materials used in the maintenance of buildings, vehicles and grounds.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Ability to work independently without supervision, as well as prioritize workload.
- Ability to evenings, weekends, or on-call if needed.
- Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools, materials, and equipment used in facility maintenance.
- Skill in use of personal computer and a variety of job-related software applications used for monitoring, troubleshooting, and servicing building automation and mechanical systems.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; climb ladders, crawl, need full mobility of all limbs able to navigate and work in tight/closed areas. Must not be claustrophobic, acrophobic, or be colorblind. This position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in cramped spaces.
This position requires possible exposure to hazardous work environments and working with high voltage, hazardous machinery, equipment, and materials that require special safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields. The YCHC is not a latex free environment. Therefore, some latex exposure can be expected.
May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule. May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.
This position requires operation of a motor vehicle.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
This position has no formally assigned supervisory responsibility or authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Post high school education will be given preference including college level courses or formal apprenticeship program applicable to health facilities or possibly the construction industry depending on trade and experience.
- One year (1) of work experience in construction or similar industry preferred. Post-secondary education and/or training, including a formal apprenticeship program, may be substituted for experience at the sole discretion of the YTT.
- Must be able to travel as necessary for required training.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, or on-call if needed. Willingness and ability to obtain required certifications or training in one or more specialty areas.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska with a clean driving record.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required unless a documented medical or religious exemption is approved.
- Must carry the mandatory level of vehicle insurance required by the State of Alaska.
- Must successfully pass a criminal and background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.
