A Maintenance Person is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the facility in the hotel’s continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
Typical Duties Include:
- Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility including, but not limited to, guest rooms, public space and heart-of-the-house areas
- Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and/or equipment
- Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, HVAC work and masonry
- Conduct inspections for preventive maintenance needs
- Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention
- Perform other functions assigned by manager, as needed
- Required to wear lumbar safety belt and when applicable, protective eyewear.
Job Requirements:
- Previous construction or hotel maintenance department supervisory or management experience.
- At least 6 months' experience in a similar capacity.
- Should have basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry concepts.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
- Must be available to respond to emergencies when not physically at the job site.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management, coworkers and vendors.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow- through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to work well under pressure of check-in/check-out of guests and handle multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs. and push 250 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes, and luggage.
- Complete GCPM inspection checklist on all guest rooms every quarter.
- Check with the GM before purchasing any items from vendors or local stores.
- Clean kitchen grease traps monthly and notate.
- Clean ice machines on each floor quarterly, routine Maintenace monthly and notate.
- Complete Monthly inspection on the hotel Sprinkler System and notate.
- Ensure all exit lights are working properly, and up to par for yearly fire inspection.
- Ensure all closets are up to par to yearly fire inspection
