SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Friday from 2:00pm-12:30am and every other Saturday
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Electrical: Wire pulling, cable and conduit installation. Replaces or rebuilds appliances. Installs electrical devices and other small parts for electrical systems. Also changes ballast, light bulbs and florescent tubes. Cleans equipment and fixtures.
Plumbing/heating/welding: Installs pipe and fixtures. May assemble pipe and make connections. Replaces or performs simple repairs to pumps and valves. Checks water softener for regeneration and adds salt to brine tank. Cleans out sewage pits, tanks and other equipment. Brushes boiler tubs and performs refractory work. Changes and rebuilds steam traps. Cuts, grinds and prepares metal for welding.
Carpentry/painting: Works with renovation projects to construct walls, build shelf units,install casework, makes signs, keys, key cuts, hang wall coverings and lay floor covering. Prepares and paints walls, equipment, furnishings and structural parts of building. Assembles, refinishes and makes routine repairs to fixtures, furnishings, door, windows, etc. Does small concrete, caulking and grout work.
Air Conditioning/refrigeration/ventilation: Performs leak test and inspects for refrigerant loss. Answers calls on room temperature or air distribution concerns and makes thermostat adjustments or calibration. Repairs leaks on piped water systems. Repairs insulation on equipment, piping mid duct work. Performs repairs to walk-in cooler box hardware and interior fixture parts.
Preventive maintenance: Services all types of building service and patient care equipment performing clean up, filter changing, lubricating, oil changing, adjusting, testing, verifying operating parameters and documenting inspection dates.
Mechanical: changes oil and lubricates machinery, replaces belts, drive shives, bearings and shafts. Sharpens lawn mower blades, cleans and reassembles parts for various pieces of equipment. Works on kitchen cooking equipment and furnishings. Repairs patient care equipment, wheelchairs, over bed tables and makes minor adjustments to patient beds. Transports and changes medical gas cylinders.
Landscape/yard care: Prepares and cultivates grounds for planting. Mows grass, trims trees and shrubs. Do weeding, mulching and watering. Applies fertilizer and sprays insecticides.
Participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities.
Acts as security person in absence of Security Officer.
Adheres to and supports all hospital policies and procedures and the mission and value statement.
Completes and files necessary reports.

QualificationsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:High School Diploma or Equivalent. Vocational training or experience in some of the various trades preferred. Must meet the requirements of the Johnson Memorial Health skill level assessment program.
