Form of workThe California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

During the Warm Shutdown of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) facilities, the Warm Shutdown team performs duties that include responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the warm shutdown facilities which include, but are not limited to, the Estrella Correctional Facility (ECF), the Northern California Women's Facility , the Heman G. Stark Correctional Facility , and the Southern Youth Correctional Reception Center-Clinic. The Maintenance Mechanic (MM) will primarily focus on maintenance support for the systems, buildings and grounds at the ECF (i.e. plumbing, electrical, lighting, and other utilities); however, because CDCR currently has other sites that are in the Warm Shutdown phase, duties may include responsibilities for maintenance and operation at those facilities as needed
Under the general direction of the Correctional Plant Supervisor, Department of Corrections, the MM inspects, maintains and repairs plumbing, heating, water and sewer systems, performs electrical maintenance and repair work, repairs automotive equipment, performs miscellaneous minor building construction and repair work, miscellaneous interior and exterior painting, and works independently and/or with other maintenance staff. The MM is subject to emergency call backs. The MM provides for the safety and security of staff and facilities and follows all CDCR policies, procedures and regulations as they pertain to a fully operational correctional facility, and works independently and/or with other maintenance staff and is subject to emergency call backs.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
