Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Safety and Security - Observes and follows safety and security policies and procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly and safely.
- Food Safety and Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Reports on areas and conditions where the quality of maintenance activities can be enhanced.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Fabricates needed repair parts and other items by using maintenance shop machinery and equipment.
- Ensures proper completion of preventive maintenance requirements as directed by Management, work order instructions, manufacturer instructions and technical manuals. Assists the Maintenance Management staff to develop and improve current preventive maintenance instructions and practices.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all directives, procedures, rules, and regulations related to personal safety, manufacturing practices and protection of the products. Offers suggestions on improving GMP related activities when issues are identified.
- Properly completes maintenance records as required to document the maintenance process. These include, but are not limited to: Work Orders, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Clean Tags, High Care Intervention forms, Parts order Log, and Inventory use sheets. Uses computerized records to document maintenance activities.
- Assists maintenance management staff in maintaining adequate spare equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing requests for needed equipment and identifying and up-channeling shortages, when noted.
- Required to be on call on a rotating basis for maintenance coverage of operational hours outside of normally assigned maintenance personnel work hours.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), AND
- Minimum two to three years related experience, OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Must demonstrate ability to work in high stress environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing environment experience with liquid products preferred.
- Ability to manage time effectively, work independently and display solid follow up techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional problem solving & organizational skills; works proactively, able to multi-task.
- Sanitary welding skills desirable, but not required.
- Ability to travel to supply facilities desirable, but not required.
- Proficient computer skills.
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally walk, stand, balance, stoop, bend and kneel.
- Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 60 lbs.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
