Martin Marietta is seeking a qualified Maintenance Mechanic(working the 2nd shift)at our Irwindale location.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, be flexible on schedules and be results-oriented. You will be challenged to repair and maintain quarry processing equipment. Primary responsibilities may include repairs to crushing, screening, conveying, and pumping equipment, also performing brazing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting tasks. This position will work the 2nd shift.
SAFETY
- Conduct a complete pre-and post-shift safety inspection
- Observe all safety precautions and rules specified by federal, state, and company regulations
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents immediately to Lead person or Manager
- Communicate with plant management on all safety and maintenance needs
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
- Ability to perform high levels of maintenance and servicing on plant with little assistance
- Must have welding and steel fabrication skills
- Ability to work in confined and small spaces
- Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and safe fashion
- Ability to operate fork-lift and man-lift safely and efficiently
- Ability to diagnose and adjust equipment for optimum performance
- Inspect, check, and maintain lubrication levels in equipment used
HERE'S WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma preferred
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using Imperial units of measure.
- Language skills - Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos. Ability to write short messages and conduct one on one and small group conversations for information sharing.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mining or heavy construction environment preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working on equipment maintenance highly preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and centrifugal/ vertical pumps a plus.
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations, OSHA and MSHA
- Safety oriented individual with a good safety record.
- Flexibility with work hours mandatory.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and descend ladders and stairs. Work in cramped confined spaces.

Salary Posting:
We are excited to share the base range for this position is $23.00-$47.37, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
