Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager leads the Crystal Farms maintenance team. The role has responsibilities for providing leadership to a team including Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Planner, and Maintenance Supervisor. Prioritizes and manages team activities and leads cross-functional initiatives resulting in meeting Crystal Farms safety, quality, cost, operational, and continuous improvement objectives.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to the Crystal Farms maintenance team.
- Develop robust Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Inventory Control programs.
- Responsible for cost justifying, compiling specs., ordering, and overseeing installing new equipment.
- Responsible for development and management of short and long-term capital plan for equipment, facility, and expansion projects.
- Assignment of work through work order (WO) system.
- Responsible for managing the maintenance department budget.
- Recognizes and takes steps to proactively improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Responsible for managing contractors while they are onsite to include human safety, food safety, and plant GMP requirements.
- Cooperates with all departments to assure a coordinated work relationship exists at all times.
- Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
- Keeps senior management informed on operating and/or staffing problems which may require their attention or knowledge
- Develop and/or maintain the programs necessary to ensure all employees are trained to meet company objectives relating to human safety, product quality and safety, environmental compliance, human relations, and professional development.
- Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous improvement teams to promote facility growth and development.
- Complete and supervise special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety
- Lead Safety Risk Management Program (SRMP) element.
- Responsible for ensuring environmental policies and regulations are followed.
- Responsible for the Property Protection Program, as it relates to our Emergency Response Plan.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business management or engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. A minimum of 5 years maintenance management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Food industry experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a strong bias for action.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred.
- Ability to collect and analyze data, identify root cause, and drive action towards improvements.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
- Able to develop and motivate salaried and hourly personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple short-term and long-term projects.
- Strong learning aptitude to stay current with changes in food safety regulations and industry trends.
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
- Able to work overtime or weekends when required.
- Experience or knowledge of all applicable food industry related equipment and systems.
- Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Auto CAD, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), and SAP preferred.
