What You Can Expect
As our Maintenance Manager, in Washington, DC at Howard University, you will be responsible for the overall planning and supervision for installation, maintenance, alteration, replacement and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities. You will report to thePlant Manager.
What You’ll Bring
- You will have a Bachelor of Science in engineering and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in plant operations and having had responsibility of maintenance and operations in a plant environment. And five (5) years of experience as an electrical and/or maintenance supervisor
- You will oversee and coordinate activities of the mechanical maintenance department in compliance with personnel policies and procedures; and will plan, schedule, and provide overall supervision for maintenance work related to mechanical and electrical equipment and piping systems including, but not limited to: turbines, generators, pumps, motors, compressors, valves, electrical controls and high voltage circuit breakers
- You will review and evaluate the need for tools, parts and materials for mechanical maintenance work
- You will initiate immediate repairs resulting from forced outages; communicate statuses to plant chain of command; and respond to emergency or unanticipated electrical or mechanical maintenance requirements outside work hours; with the ability to work overtime, as well as a schedule that could include nights and weekends
- You will be responsible for arranging on-the-job training of maintenance personnel in accordance with established programs
- You have knowledge in the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment in a generating and steam production station; with knowledge of maintenance requirements for gas turbines, boilers, pumps, motors, and electrical switchgear
- You can use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations; and the ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and take direction from others
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Details
- This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis;
- Must be available to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
- This position consist of 40% of outdoor work, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions
- Frequently is required toclimb or balance; stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Maximo CMMS programs
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Compensation
Salary Range: $116,200 – $172,500 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
