The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and direction to plant maintenance function of a 24 hour, 7 day a week operation. This person carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws. Directly supervises employees and supervises through others.
How you will make contributions that matter...
- Responsible for the overall performance of the plant's Maintenance Department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department personnel.
- Develop and implement the plant's R&M budget and monitor cost relative to equipment repairs and upgrades. Assist the Plant Manager in development and implementation of the plant capital budget.
- Schedule labor to meet plant and equipment requirements while assigning responsibilities, managing and supporting maintenance personnel as needed. Create a spirit of customer service to the entire facility.
- Actively participate with operations in plant initiatives. Ensure all mechanical, electrical, electronic and structural repair and improvements are performed to industry standards.
- Maintain a system for tracking work orders, preventative and predictive maintenance and parts and equipment inventory.
- Coordinate with production/packaging supervision any downtime windows for preventative maintenance and repair work.
- Fulfill plant requirements relative to regulatory reporting (i.e. DNR, etc.) Document plant activities relative to wastewater permits, storm water, air emissions, Tier II reporting, pressure vessel registration, building permits, etc., to ensure compliance to current codes and permits for all regulatory agencies
- Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.

You Are Best Suited for The Role If You Have The Following Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Prefer a four-year degree in a related field, and/or equivalent experience in maintenance in the cheese/dairy industry.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role in the maintenance field.
- Working knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, PLCs, electrical, cooling towers, ammonia compressors and packaging equipment.
- Working knowledge of environmental issues and compliance (i.e. effluent, BOD, COD, etc.), a plus.
- Understanding of cost containment and budgetary principles.
- Understanding of federal, state and local regulatory compliance issues within the dairy industry, relative to environmental, equipment and structural requirements (e.g. USDA, FDA, OSHA, EPA, NFPA).
- Proficient in MS Office and experience with computerized maintenance management systems; working knowledge in Programmable Logic Controllers, Auto Cad Software. SAP experience a plus!
- Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills. Strong customer and quality focus.
