As a Laborer/Groundman, you will support all phases of jobsite construction/excavation for various types of projects. This position will assist others on a jobsite with general maintenance duties, job site labor, and will ensure that project maintenance/labor is completed as required.
This position will be temporary, about 6 months total.
Essential Functions
· Work well with all co-workers, residents and customers
· Follow direction of Foreman/Supervisor as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
· Complete jobsite labor/maintenance tasks/assignments
· Troubleshoot maintenance problems as they arise on the site
· Use of various kinds of tools and equipment as needed
· Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
· Assist with cleaning heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
· Advise the Foreman/Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
· Practice workplace safety
· Maintain inventory
Qualifications & Specialized Training requirements

· 2 years construction/jobsite maintenance preferred

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have direct reports.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Position can be a physically strenuous and demanding job. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, manual dexterity for handling large machines and small components/tools; ability to lift heavy objects. Must be able to work in all weather and be prepared to work in both extreme heat and cold. Position involves on-site activity in construction situations, including walking and navigating through job sites and unusual conditions, moving and positioning loads up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders and moving on temporary structures. Necessary precautions must be taken to wear appropriate PPE. Ground travel will be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time, non- exempt position. Shifts will be 4 - 10s, 4 days a week, 40 hours per week. Work hours may be dependent on specific jobs but can include early mornings and potentially later shifts.
- Willing and able to work extended hours when necessary, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be prepared to respond and participate in off-hour events and emergencies, as needed.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day. Travel is expected and mandatory. Travel to other Regions/District and state may be required as projects are determined and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in labor or construction work is preferred
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Familiarity with rigging techniques and equipment operation
- Proficient in bucket truck operation
- Knowledge of utility locating procedures and equipment
- Mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting and repairs
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects
- Excellent attention to detail and safety protocols
