Title: Maintenance II Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Position Hours: Full Time, First Shift FLSA: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Maintenance II is the entry-level class in the Processing Maintenance series. Initially, under close supervision, incumbents perform the more routine duties while learning processing policies and procedures and becoming familiar with the variety of processing systems and practices. As experience is gained, duties become more diversified and are performed under more general supervision.
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties involving the inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and servicing of all processing area equipment.
- Truck & Trailer mechanical skills.
- Perform machine preventive maintenance functions (oiling, greasing, inspection, etc.).
- Perform minor machine diagnostics / performance tuning with supervision.
- Ability to complete and document with accuracy all required forms.
- Maintains continuity within department by documenting and/or communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
- Ability to comply with the strictest standards for Food Safety, biosecurity, and animal welfare and to report incidents of abuse, neglect, or breach of standards to management.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have own tools and toolbox.
- Adjusts functional parts of equipment by using hand tools, measuring devices, levels, and straight edges.
- Ability to maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Proven mechanical / electrical aptitude as tested with Herbruck’s approved test through training department.
- Able to work around moving machinery comfortably.
- Working in a farm environment with various conditions.
- Does not own or maintain routine contact with swine or birds.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Capable of working weekends and maintaining a flexible schedule. This includes regularly scheduled shifts. Saturday and Sunday as well as holidays. (Being on Call).
- Ability to remain standing and/or walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors.
- Ability to stoop, bend, climb, and lift at least 50 lbs. continuously throughout the day.

- Complete monthly required safety training.
