Peraton is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for the Deep Space Network (DSN) program in our Fort Irwin, CA location in support of NASA/JPL.
The Deep Space Network is NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to; performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of AC electrical distribution systems up to 13KV, power generation plants, UPS, monitoring computer systems. Must have a working knowledge of the NEC and NFPA 70E.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on switchgear, circuit breakers and all other associated electrical gear.
- Perform monthly safety inspections of assigned buildings
- Proficient in office computer use Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows 98, Windows XP and MAXIMO
- Troubleshoot equipment utilizing drawings and test equipment
- Collect and provide analysis of technical data
- Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- 2 years of technical training in the electrical field and 2 years of experience, or 6 years of experience in the electrical field
- Completion of an electrical safety program in accordance with OSHA and NFPA 70
- Extensive electrical troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills. Must be motivated, safety minded and demonstrate a team attitude. Must also have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must possess and retain a valid California drivers’ license
- Must be able to obtain a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC)

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical pay for this position based on experience and other factors.
