Maintenance Electrician

Basic Purpose

With daily supervision from manager, perform repairs and install electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Follows electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specification using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Help plan layout of wiring and install power supply wiring and conduit for machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers; following electrical code and blueprints while using hand tools and voltage tester.
• Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment while following manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints; also using hand tools and test equipment.
• Detect malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures using test equipment; replace damaged or broken wires and cables using hand tools.
• Test malfunctioning machinery using test equipment and discuss malfunction with other maintenance workers such as machine repairer, maintenance and distributor to diagnose malfunction.
• Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards, using electronic test equipment and hand tools. Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors.
• Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, and motors; as well as position sensing devices while using hand tools.
• May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
• Support maintenance tasks and projects as time permits.
• Automation support for electrical and basic maintenance as well as preventative maintenance.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Electrical License
• 5 or more years of hands on experience in electrical repair using electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
