Job description

Perform technical and specialized functions and activities in mail distribution processes; set up, operate, adjust mail equipment, receive, sort and prepare for delivery intra-office and US mail, including packages, according to prescribed schedules and procedures. Duties may also include keeping necessary records and completed forms. Provide customer assistance to ensure customer understanding of postal mailing standards and mail preparation requirements. Provide oversight of freight management services and freight discounts. Provide oversight of the Vendor Credentialing Services for the Hospital


Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate equipment used in processing mail which includes the use of specialized mailroom equipment (e.g., scale, postage meter, etc.).
  • Receive, sort, prepare and distribute incoming and outgoing intra-office and US mail, including packages, using cost-effective and time-efficient methods.
  • Sort, weigh, meter, stamp, and ensure mail items; learn and apply appropriate related postal regulations, including bulk, express and certified mail; participate in mailing activities.
  • Set up and operate equipment used in the mailroom and monitor equipment to ensure that postage regulations are followed and that the internal and external mail process is being performed appropriately.
  • Serve as a resource, answer questions and advise Nursing Units and Department Staffs on the proper procedures for processing intra-office and US mail.
  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of the postage meter, which includes monitoring the amount of postage available and refilling.
  • Perform routine maintenance, which includes but not limited to regular cleaning, lubrication, minor repairs and adjustments to equipment, and schedule appointments for repairs.
  • Responsible for the proper execution of the Freight Management agreement.
  • Responsible for the proper execution of the Vendor Credentialing agreement.

  • Two (2) years of experience working within a mailroom environment is required.
  • High School Diploma of GED equivalency.
