Machinist
The Machinist is responsible for supporting the Maintenance department. The successful Machinist will demonstrate strong communication skills and a real commitment to their quality of work, ensuring a superior customer experience, with a key focus on safety, quality, and cleanliness. The focus of this position is to create, repair, and modify various machine parts used in the production process.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and make repairs to parts.
- Precisely measure parts with precision instruments.
- Repair/modify/fabricate parts using shop tools.
- Issue parts/materials from Storeroom.
- Generate work orders in SAP system for recognized deficiencies.
- Keep shop hand tools and powered tools in good working order.
- Work during off shifts, weekends, holidays as needed on special assignments.
- Be engaged on safety teams and safety processes.
- Accurately enter work time against work orders in SAP system.
- Perform duties timely, accurately, calmly under stressful conditions and work independently.
- Requisition parts/materials needed for job assignments.
- Work outside of Machine Shop as requested.
- Effectively communicates with others.
- Completes all required safety activities as outlined in plant safety rules.
- Demonstrates a strong desire to succeed and develop within the company.
Requirements:
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- Must have 4-6 years of Machine Shop machinist experience.
- Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints.
- Must be able to calculate formulas, dimensions, conversions, weights, and measurements.
- Must be able to operate lathes safely and efficiently, milling machines, saws, surface grinders, bend grinders, radial drill, drill presses, welders (stick, wire, spray), hoisting equipment and all shop precision instruments.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
- Must be able to withstand continuous periods of moving, walking, bending, stooping, keeling, twisting motion, climbing, and descending stairs and ladders in an effort to perform most tasks.
