Job description

Position Summary

The Group Leader supervises Team Leaders and Team Members in a highly automated and demanding machining environment while establishing and maintaining quality and production standards within the Machining Department.

Essential Functions

Corporate:

  • Adheres to the policies and procedures.
  • Learns, demonstrates and upholds HTGP Core Values.
  • Complies with all HTGP Certification standards; Management System (IATF16949), Environmental 45001, Health and Safety OHSAS 18001 policies and procedures.
  • Treats all HTGP Team Members with respect and professional courtesy.
  • Always strives to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Performs additional assignments / duties as required by management.


EHS:

  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all safety policies and 5S clean philosophy to maintain a safe, clean working environment.
  • Consistently meets company safety goals.

Technical:

  • Adjusts machine settings in response to problems or quality reports.
  • Displays knowledge and skills necessary to perform all assigned duties.
  • Tracks and controls department supplies to meet department budget.
  • Works with suppliers to improve equipment or processes.
  • Develops and recommends improvements of process or equipment or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Understands process and procedures, standards and methods.
  • Generates and understand daily, weekly & monthly performance reports.
  • Completes analysis for shift issues such as quality, safety, production, down time and tooling.
  • Develops and maintains quality measuring equipment SOP’s and work instructions.Leadership:
  • Responsible for safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets for a production area.
  • Directs multiple team leaders and their respective zones.
  • Plans and tracks all training required to enhance the skills and competency of all Team Members.
  • Monitors daily SPC checks to ensure quality and control plan requirements.
  • Tracks and controls machining scrap, leaker scrap, visual scrap and assembly returns.
  • Builds and sustains positive relationships and handles conflict effectively.
  • Promotes department goals by providing guidance to all Team Members.
  • Ensures Team Members adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Enforces clean philosophy to maintain a clean working environment.
  • Implements and enforces department quality alerts, corrective actions & counter measures.
  • Monitors work operations and provide direction as needed.
  • Works with leadership in all departments to ensure communication between departments.
  • Assists in any special project assigned to Machining Department.

Education

  • High School/GED (required)
  • 4 Year Degree or comparable background of work related experience (preferred)

Reporting

  • Reports To: Machining Assistant Manager
  • Direct Reports: up to 5

  • Physical demands in a manufacturing environment may also , at times include safely handling various parts and / or handling the parts flow in and out of manufacturing work areas which requires pushing and pulling of carts, cases, pallets. Work environment is climate controlled in most areas of the facility.

Position Requirements and Qualifications

  • 4 - 6 years job related experience
  • Three years’ supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Ability to read and understand part drawings

Other Information

  • Position may require domestic or international travel.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and possess the basic ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Must satisfactorily complete HTGP hiring process requirements, which includes phone interview, in-person interview, medical and functional assessment, drug screen and background check.
  • Candidates must be able to work some overtime hours and occasional weekend days.
  • Candidates must be capable of working on their feet for long periods, demonstrating hand dexterity and tolerating repetitious work patterns.
