Machine Vision System Engineer

Purpose and role of job:
Leads and implements Machine Vision System design, changes, and best practices at assigned site and relative to product categories. These efforts include driving changes that align with all cross functional departments, best practice management, and productivity improvement efforts that ensure we are the highest quality, lowest cost producer in the market. In addition, will provide systems, methods, and trainings to ensure team members have the appropriate information, knowledge, and skills to deliver best in class Machine Vision capability to the marketplace.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

• Works closely with technical leadership team to drive cross functional and divisional projects and solutions for their assigned category and division.
• Drives efficiency improvement and scrap reduction efforts through the application of continuous improvement tools and system designs.
• Provides design solutions and training for the effective implementation of center lining, pinning, and run to target processes using all available systems and resources.
• Implements standards and design practices for Vision System and quality inspection measurements that align with all other Absorbent Hygiene (AbHy) divisions of the company.
• Drives and owns productivity projects and involves plant personnel to achieve targets across all departments.
• Provides system design expertise, training, and guidance on Machine Vision Systems including AccuSentry, Cognex, and other industry standard tools and inspection processes.
• Delivers excellence in service and project coordination for Machine Vision Systems within assigned division.
• Plays a key role in partnering with cross functional teams to ensure raw materials and processes are meeting specifications and design parameters.
• Ability to operate as an individual contributor and leader as needed based on business dynamics and facilitation needs.
• Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
• Develops proposals, budgets, Capital Equipment Requests (CERs), and electronic requisition (ereq) recommendations as needed.
• Develops, implements, and facilitates training programs in Machine Vision System processes.
• Delivers Machine Vision System improvement objectives and content to meet business needs.
• Facilitates and performs Machine Vision System training workshops.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications/ education and experience requirements:
(e.g. degrees, certificates of specific trainings)

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Preferred 2 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment and leading rapid continuous improvement.
• AccuSentry and Cognex Machine Vision System experience preferred.
• PLC and HMI programming experience preferred.
• Black Belt/Six Sigma certification preferred.

Skills/ competencies requirements:
(e.g., analytical, teamwork, problem solving, ability to use certain equipment, etc.)

• Exceptional analytical problem solver and has training in SPC and DOE with demonstrated successes applying these principles.
• Proven track record of implementing new systems and procedures.
• Strong personal computer proficiency with MS Office, Cognex, and AccuSentry software.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written with executive presence.
• Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner.
• Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented.
• Strong experience with lean manufacturing strategies used to reduce waste (i.e.-material pull system) and optimization.
• Strong experience with Error Proofing and Design principles.

• This role may require travel to other FQ sites and suppliers as needed.
