Quest Window Systems Inc (“Quest”) is a manufacturer of a window wall system designed for high-rise residential developments, based in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Quest services clients from all over North America, including major metropolises such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Toronto.
Our Garland Facility is now hiring Machine Technician/ Machine Operator. Glass machining or Furnace operator experience is a plus.
This position is a Full-time Direct Hire - 100% Employer Paid Insurance
- 3rd Shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM ) - Ability to work flexible hours
- Starting hourly pay rate at $18.00 - $20.00 an hour

Purpose: This position is responsible to operate the Furnace, use equipment to complete processes such as hardening, tempering, normalizing, annealing, carburizing and nitriding. Furnace Operators must interpret processing information from worksheets, order specifications, production management software, and other written or verbal instructions to accomplish work assignments. The Machine Technician or Furnace operator is to follow all standard operating procedures regarding safety guidelines, machine cleanliness
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Must Have Responsibilities
- Follow all required safety practices, guidelines and company procedures
- Keep your work area, inside the factory and the Quest grounds safe, clean, and organized at all times
- Report all safety incidents immediately to your direct manager or member of Safety Team
- Maintain good attendance and be at your work area prior to the shift start bell
- Take breaks at designated times and do not leave your work area before the horn end of shift bell
- Be able to work in a team environment
- Provide support and train other team members as instructed
- Learn and understand Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of product, processes and customer expectations
- Monitor the quality of output to identify, discard or re-manufacture faulty products
- Perform related or other responsibilities as required or assigned to meet customer and production requirements
- Perform any and all reasonable requests from management
Additional Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain assigned machine/equipment in adherence with training procedures, safety policies and practices across the facility
- Escalate issues that impact the manufacturing of insulated glass to immediate supervisor and or Team Lead and incoming shift when necessary
- Assess product quality and make minor adjustments to equipment to meet quality standards
- Identify problems, communicate, provide input, and assist in resolution
- Operating heat-treating equipment
- Inspect all glass for defects such as chips, bubbles, scratches, blown holes, proper edgework, etc.
- Verifying count and condition of parts with Purchase Orders
- Maintaining required heat-treating records
- Adhering to strict parts specifications
- Racking, loading and Masking parts
- Shot blasting/glass beading parts
- Follow all instructions to operate assigned machine/equipment and cranes
Required Qualification and Skills:
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide product that typically may weigh up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for duration of shift
- Able to work in a non-climate-controlled factory environment
- Highest attention to the quality of work performed
- English communication skills - oral and written
- Basic math skills including the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, divide and read a standard tape measure
- Be willing to learn and rotate through multiple positions as business needs require
- Pre-employment background check & drug screening are required
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some overtime and weekends
Preferred Qualification and Skills
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent education
- 3 to 5 years experience in a glass manufacturing environment
- Ability to read calipers, tape measure
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
