Machine Operator - 1st Shift
Core warehouse hours 630 am to 3pm
What We're Looking For:
As a Machine Operator, you will have a strong work ethic, be reliable and consider yourself a go-getter. We are looking for someone to operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, saws and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes according to blueprints and specifications. We need a decision maker who likes to be challenged, and can always be counted on to exercise sound judgement. Someone who likes to be hands-on, wants to learn new skills, be part of a team, and advance within a growing company.
- 2-5 years of experience operating machines (mentioned above)
- Experience operating multiple machines at once preferred
- Mechanical aptitude (skilled using hand tools and instruments)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Fast paced individual willing to cross-train
- Ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
- Ability to pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
- Authorized to work in the United States
A Day in the Life:
- Selects, positions, and secure dies, blades, cutters and fixtures onto machine using rule, square, shims, templates, hand tools and build-in gauges.
- Positions and clamps stops, guides, and turntables.
- Adjusts controls to set and regulate machining facts, such as pressure and depth of ram stroke, adjustment rolls, blade angle, and machine speed.
- Locates and marks bending or cutting lines and reference points on work piece, using instruments, such as rule and compass, or by tracing from templates.
- Positions work piece against stops and guides or aligns layout marks with dies or cutting blades manually or using hoist.
- Starts machine and observes machine operation to reposition work piece, change dies, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.
- Inspects or measures work, using rule, gauges and templates.
- May operate machines to fabricate nonmetallic materials.
- May set up and operate sheet-metal fabricating machines.
- Work overtime as needed, including some weekend shifts
