Essential Functions
- With minimal supervision, preforms the job of Check, Chart Load Operator as assigned.
- Receives supervision and direction from Foreman and works from standard instructions.
- Very precisely, follows all safety procedures at all times.
- Prior to operating screw machine at start of shift, rakes all chips out of machine.
- At startup, checks one part from each spindle for adherence to quality specifications. Notifies operator if parts are falling outside of drawing tolerances.
- Throughout shift, loads machines with bar stock.
- After each stock-up, catches one part from each spindle. Inspects and gages each part per manufacturing procedures. Notifies operator if parts are falling outside of drawing tolerances.
- Following manufacturing procedures, completes SPC charts as checkouts are performed.
Other Duties
- Detects and reports faulty operations, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies, and other unusual conditions to Screw Machine Operator or Team Leader.
- Maintains work area in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis, and performs a general machine and work area clean up daily.
- Oils and greases machine, and replaces coolant as required.
- Keeps machines free of chips.
- Uses time and attendance software to log on and off work orders to monitor production.
- Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to the work at hand.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand throughout an entire shift (8-10 hours).
- Must be able to bend forward, stretching forward, reaching into machine as needed to perform aforementioned job duties.
- Visual acuity to read micrometers, and visually inspect small parts.
- Must be able to lift up to forty (40) lbs., ten (10) times throughout an entire shift.
- Occasional lifting up to seventy-five (75) lbs. may be necessary.
- Near vision must be at least 20/30.
