Job Description- CNC Operators for Machining 1st and 2nd shift
Sterling Industries USA has CNC Operator positions open at the North Long Road facility in Columbus, IN. This position is for experience and apprentice Machine Operators who has some introduction into operating a CNC turning or milling machine. Shift hours are 6:00 am until 4:30 pm for 1stshift and 4:00 pm until 2:30 am for 2ndshift Monday thru Thursday with some overtime on Fridays. You will operate and make production parts. You must be able to read and understand part prints. Also you must perform in process inspection and maintain the daily maintenance on your machines and work area. This position requires a commitment to availability and punctuality. The employee must have attention to detail. You must be a team player. It is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers.
Job Functions:
Operate a CNC Mill or Lathe, perform the necessary tool changes and offsets as required. Troubleshoot issues and correct as required.
- Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment under general supervision.
- Shall demonstrate the ability to complete all departmental paperwork in detail.
- Demonstrate the ability to log onto the ERP interface and punch in the daily work performance per job operation, hours, and quantity completed.
- Perform multiple daily checks on coolant and oil levels, add fluids as required.
- Be a self-starter.
- Shall have the ability to measure with calipers, dial bore gages, indicators, micrometers, height gages, refractometer, and comparator as required.
- Basic use of mathematics and geometry.
- Ability to run multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.
- Meets all production and quality standards with a zero-tolerance for scrap or rework.
- Understanding ethical behavior.
- Understanding of product safety.

- Teamwork and communication skills
- Physical stamina and strength. Must be able to be on your feet and move between machines with no risk of injury. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
