Machine Operator

Fort Collins Plastics is full line plastics machine shop that works with both retail and commercial clients with plastics and machining needs.

We are looking for a competent Machine Operator to perform a variety of functions safely and accurately. A keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude are essential. The goal is to produce high quality parts and materials by programming machines to perform the right operations and provide quality customer service.

Required Competencies:

• Equipment Selection: Able to follow and validate specifications on work orders and select tools and equipment required to do the job, make modifications, when necessary.
• Machines: Operate and perform basic set-up of machines such as CO2 laser, panel saw, drill presses, band saw, etc.
• Active Listening/Skilled Communication: Ability to work with the public and follow verbal communications and written instructions, ask questions when appropriate.
• Mechanical Skills: Perform basic mechanical functions with hand tools and have knowledge of measuring equipment.
• Math: Ability to use basic math to perform various functions such as calculate material length and quantities, convert dimensions, calculate offsets, etc.
• Experience: At least one year of experience working in a machine shop setting.

Preferred Competencies:

• Graphic Design or CAD Equivalent: Able to take a hand sketch and draw into programs needed by machinery to process a job.
• Equipment Maintenance/Repair: Have general machine knowledge to perform basic maintenance, cleaning and inspection of machinery and other equipment.
• Quality Control Analysis: Conduct tests and inspections to validate that production meets specifications and provide feedback to leadership on problems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
