Summary: This position operates machines and equipment used in the manufacturing of food products and work with other employees to effectively meet or exceed expectations for product quality and production rates. Machine Operators must have a basic knowledge of how to set up, operate and maintain manufacturing machinery and equipment. Must obtain a basic knowledge of visual and dimensional inspection techniques. Adheres to company safety, conduct, and sanitation policies and follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) in all areas of responsibility. Follows established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Responsible for efficiently operating and maintaining assigned production line equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
- Complies with good manufacturing practices
- Maintains accurate records (i.e. chart recorders)
- Supports quality system
- Maintains communication within production team members ensuring smooth shift transitions, etc.
- Monitors raw materials, and supplies to ensure efficient production in the area
- Ensure adequate supply of packaging materials and communicate resource requirements for replenishment
- Determine acceptable quality ranges on packaging
- Coordinate communication between palletizing and DE operations
- Participate, and sometimes lead, daily operations meetings
- Responsible for startup and shut down on production line.
- Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
- Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
- Ability to perform changeovers in a safe and efficient manner.
- Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed.
- Complete the required paperwork and checklist, as required.
- Capable of efficient and timely start up for production runs
- Capable of troubleshooting assigned equipment during production runs
- Complete required documentation (weights, time checks, and sign-off sheets) in an accurate and timely manner
- Perform line checks and testing as required
- Assist line associates to attain performance criteria as it relates to Safety, Quality and Productivity
- Respond to changes on packaging to assist line associates and maintain efficiencies
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Supervisor
SAFETY AND QUALITY:
- Understands equipment hazards to prevent injury to self and others – understands company policies on safety and follow procedures – GMP’s, (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Lock-out Tag-out
- Reports any food safety problems or potentially unsafe practices/conditions to the Supervisor
- Can safely lift items up to 50lbs – motors, parts, totes of ingredients, etc. - asks for help when lifting heavier items
- Recommends changes to improve safety standards and performance efficiencies
- May need to be certified to use the motorized Pallet Jack, forklift, Lock-out Tag-out – ensures safe operation of all machinery, tools and equipment
- Maintains proper housekeeping and safety standards, including 5S practices
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- May be assigned to work in extremely cold or hot conditions
- Most positions are located in areas with loud noise and will require the employee to wear protective ear plugs
- Other conditions include dust, wet floors, occasional smoke and fumes from cleaning chemicals (chlorine)
- Main activities will be walking, lifting, standing, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching and climbing. Some kneeling and reaching overhead work will also be required.
- May occasionally be required to work in high places – where fall protection is required.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to work 2nd shift (2 pm - 10:30 pm) or 3rd Shift (10 pm - 6:30 am)
- Willingness to work weekends and overtime when required
- Able to read, write and speak English

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
