Job Overview Medication Assistant, Certified (MAC):
Shift time: 7:00 pm to 7:15am
Starting pay $18.00/hr plus a $3.00/hr shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medication Assistant (M.A.C.) to join our team. As a M.A.C., you will provide essential support to patients and assist with their daily activities. Responsibilities:
- By obtaining vital signs, glucometer, and pulse oximetry readings
-By assisting residents with meals and/or feeding
- By doing dressing changes limited to the application of simple bandaging (e.g. steri-strips) wet-to-dry and/or non-sterile dressing changes.
- Ensuring maintenance of ostomies (colostomy and urostomy) to include measuring and application of wafer board.
- Performing application of oxygen via nasal cannula
- Ensuring initiation and discontinuation of nebulizer treatment to EXCLUDE racemic epinephrine administration.
- By distributing prescribed medications to the assigned resident to include ear, nose, oral, topical, inhalant, rectal, and vaginal. The MAC may administer PRN (as-needed) medications, under the direction of the LPN/RN. The MAC may not administer controlled substances and shall not have access to stored controlled substances.
- Ensuring documentation of all procedures and/or medication administered in the facility's electronic medical records platform and paper records.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Minimum Education Required: Completion of Medication Assistant Program. State of Alabama: Medication Assistant, Certified (MAC)
- Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Experience in a nursing home setting preferred
- Familiarity with dementia care and medication administration
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
