Responsibilities:
- Assesses for and controls pain and nausea per physician's orders.
- Offers snacks when patient is awake and alert.
- Educates patient on optimal post-care at home.
- Counts narcotics at the beginning and end of each shift with the Pre-Op nurse.
- Management of airway and ventilation.
- Monitor cardiac function, arrhythmia recognition, and treatment of life-threatening emergencies.
- Management of patient during altered states of consciousness.
- Management of monitoring and respiratory equipment.
- Management of fluid lines, tubes, drains, and catheters.
- Administration of drugs and identification of drug-related problems.
- Recognition of the actions and interactions of anesthetic techniques.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center.
