Friends Village is looking for full-time and part-time night shift Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to work in our Community.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The LPN, under the delegation of the Registered Nurse, performs nursing care to the residents as assigned. This includes performing delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines, and standards as observed by the registered nurse. Documents observations of residents' behavior and response to medications on the residents' record. Oversees and supervises the care of the residents by the Certified Nursing Assistant.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education Required: Graduate of a Licensed School of Nursing for Licensed Practical Nurses
Education Preferred:
Minimum Experience Required: Satisfactory performance of clinical studies during the course of study at a School of Nursing for new graduate nurses.
Experience Preferred: 1 Year experience in long term care
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of New Jersey
Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Able to demonstrate understanding of the geriatric population including the disease processess typical of this population. Able to perform as a team member. Good communication skills.

Physical/Environmental Conditions: Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds for various time spans. Must be able to stand, squat, stoop, sit and kneel for different lengths of time.
Must be able to push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds. Possible exposure to Bio-hazardous material.
Equipment Requirements: General office equipment including a fax machine, copier, telephone, cell phone and pagers. Knowledge of basic nursing equipment, including blood pressure machines, lifts, glucose monitors, EKG machine, Oxygen Concentrators and tanks, and more.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilizes nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of nursing care under the delegation of the Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with residents, team members, supervisors and other departments in a professional manner
- Participates in quality improvement activities within the nursing department.
- Pursues professional growth through participation in educational activities.
- Supervises Certified Nursing Assistants and assists with orientation of new personnel in their assigned area.
- Appropriately delegates and monitors duties and responsibilities of CNA's working with the residents they are assigned.
- Maintains and promotes quality resident care through cooperation with other staff and the interdisciplinary team.
