OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for an RN Infection Preventionist. The successful IP Nurse will implement an ongoing infection prevention and control program to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infections in order to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.

- Utilizes community wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable disease of all residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
- Develops and implements an ongoing community wide infection prevention and control program (IPCP) to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.
- Performs infection surveillance rounds on designated units and high-risk areas.
- Coordinates and oversees the community antibiotic stewardship program that includes antibiotic use protocols and a system to monitor antibiotic use.
- Maintains weekly respiratory surveillance log and submits as required.
- Conducts and maintains on-going compliance monitoring for hand hygiene policies consistent with standards of practice.
- Collaborates with other departments including Human Resources in relation to occupational health and safety and associate health matters, including prohibiting staff with communicable diseases from reporting to work.
- Assesses the need for, develops, and implements policies and procedures for infection control, including those for standard and transmission-based precautions. Ensures infection control policies and procedures are followed.
- Assesses the need for, develops, and provides educational programs relevant to infection prevention and control principles, policies, and procedures to all residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers.
- Participates in the community QAPI committee meetings monthly to report on Infection Prevention and Control Program. Serves as a leader/mentor and subject matter expert to staff in the areas related to infection prevention.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum
- Graduate from an accredited college/university or approved LPN/RN program
- Associate’s degree in nursing, medical technology, chemistry, biology or related field
- Active state nursing license as an LPN
- 2+ years previous nursing experience
Desired
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other clinical health-related field
- Active state nursing license as an RN
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control
- 2+ years’ previous clinical experience in skilled nursing facility setting
- 2+ years’ previous experience as an Infection Control Nurse/Infection Preventionist
- 1+ years’ supervisory experience in a healthcare community
