ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:

  • Serves as in integral part of the learning community and viewed as an ongoing learner who is fully engaged in professional development activities.
  • Displays a genuine disposition for engaging children and promoting curiosity and learning.
  • Supports Lead Teacher in every aspect of providing personalized small group instruction as planned together with Lead Teacher.
  • Actively reflect and seek feedback.
  • Share tasks such as diligently monitoring recess and dismissal on assigned days and times according to school policy.
  • Walks students to and from enrichment classes and assist in designated enrichment classes.
  • Inspects the school site and equipment for potential safety hazards taking corrective action by informing the Director to prevent injuries. Student welfare and safety is the first priority of every MCDS employee.
  • Assists Lead Teacher with parent/teacher conferences.
  • Demonstrates technology proficiency including but not limited to email, Microsoft Word, and digital cameras.
  • Attends meetings or trainings required of this position that may/may not be during hours
  • Works both independently and cooperatively with other faculty members.
  • Be professional, punctual and prepared.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, including accountable conversation that promotes the schools core values.
  • Adhere to established daily schedule with break times scheduled in conjunction with the lead teacher.
  • Know that phone/cell calls are only appropriate during scheduled breaks.
  • The start of the school year for Partner Teachers will be the same as faculty. Partner Teachers must attend all faculty training and class preparation.
  • On a given day that the lead teacher is not present, the Partner Teacher becomes the Lead Teacher and receives the substitute daily rate pay
  • Supports the school by performing other related duties as directed by Division personnel.
  • Adheres to established Miami Country Day School policies described in the MCDS Employee Handbook.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • High School diploma or higher and experience working with children (ages 6 - 10).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Works in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat.
  • Standing, bending, sitting and walking.
  • Must be able to function well in a noisy, busy environment that includes the coming and goings of many students as well as parents. Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic office administration, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools. The above describes the general nature and level of work. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required as they are ever changing in a dynamic work environment.
  • Days/Hours: Monday-Friday with hours from 7:40 am to 4:00 pm with a 30- minute lunch break. In the event of weather emergencies or unavoidable delayed dismissals, Partner Teachers remain with Lead Teacher and children until all students are picked up.
