Job description

As a teacher, you will work closely with the Assistant Head of School for Early Child Education, Upper Grades Dean and other teacher colleagues to implement a differentiated approach to instruction that encourages student voice and creativity and acknowledges the need for lesson design with a variety of modalities of instruction and assessment. It is a ten-month position from August through June.

Minimum Requirements

● Undergraduate or graduate degree in elementary education or a related field required.

● Proven excellence in use of Technology.

● Proven excellence in designing rigorous and equity-framed instruction with differentiated student assessment and learning.

● Successful experience in designing innovative and rigorous Humanities and/or Mathematics programs while showing a joy and commitment to the 5 - 9 year old learning and social emotional experience.

● Proven excellence in designing socio-emotional learning for children and exemplifying best practices in DEIJB framing

● Successful experience in growth-mindedness, honesty, high standards and practice of empathy into one’s own professional growth

Duties include

● Being ready on campus in your assigned zone to assist students by 7:45 a.m. each morning

● Attending all assigned faculty and committee meetings

● Regularly participating in a growth-minded approach to professional development

● Supporting the school’s strategic initiatives related to admission (class visits, notes to families, open houses, fairs, etc.) and advancement of mission (collaborating with the Communications Office with all class communications)

● Designing and delivering differentiated learning experiences for all students on a daily basis in Mathematics, Writing, Reading, and Social Studies

● Designing and delivering comprehensive individual and group projects with in-depth and rubric-based feedback to students and families.

● Partnering closely with co-curriculars and other grade level team members to foster an interdisciplinary approach to instruction which includes substantial writing, project-based learning, individualized assessment and service-learning

● Attending weekly lesson planning meetings with grade-level instructors

● Attending monthly lesson planning meetings with co-curricular instructors

● With Assistant Head for Matriculation & Systems on a trimester basis, analyzing and leveraging student ERB/milestone performance to develop and implement individual student strategic support as well as overall refinements to curriculum

● Being present and delivering socio-emotional informed engagement with students during your assigned pick-up, drop-off, lunch and recess coverage duties

● As a whole child school, instructors are required to holistically understand their students’ experience; this includes student experiences during lunch, recess and afterschool and regularly checking in with other grade level teachers about student opportunities and challenges for success

● Writing comprehensive narratives for each child three times a year

● Initiating communication with and meeting with families to address student success and challenges including by reviewing ERB data

● Regularly updating the grade level’s curriculum maps with other grade level instructors

● Regularly maintaining the digital student gradebook of each student

● Analyzing standardized test data and other objective assessments to refine individualized student learning

● Attending community events: chapel, open houses, and evening/afternoon student program events and other school and community events as designated by the Head of School or designee (i.e. annual drama productions, the Christmas Pageant and the STEAM fair).
