Loss Prevention Specialist

Job Summary:

The Loss Prevention Specialist plays a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and investigating activities related to theft, fraud, and operational losses within an organization. This role involves surveillance, data analysis, and investigative work to mitigate risks and losses. The primary responsibility of the Loss Prevention Specialist is to provide comprehensive support to the field and Operations, working collaboratively to limit exposure and loss.

Essential Job Functions:

• Collect, review, and analyze data related to inventory shrinkage, fraud incidents, and other loss-related metrics.
• Create detailed and accurate reports for usage by management and field staff

• Utilize data analytics tools and software to identify trends and patterns indicative of potential loss events.
• Actively watch for suspicious behavior or irregularities that may indicate theft or fraud.
• Assist in investigations of theft, fraud, and other loss-related incidents.
• Provide analytical support to security personnel and law enforcement during investigations.
• Interview suspects, review security footage, and gather evidence to determine the extent of the loss and identify perpetrators.
• Stay current with security technologies, such as CCTV systems, access control, and electronic article surveillance systems.
• Create strategies to reduce theft, shrinkage, and other sources of financial loss.
• Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Management of security system platform(s)

Job Requirements:

• 1+ years of previous experience in Loss Prevention, security, surveillance, or investigative work is preferred.
• Must have proven ability to escalate issues to management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with associates, management, and outside vendors.
• Good problem-solving ability and a high sense of urgency.
• Proficiency in surveillance systems and data analysis tools.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Certifications in Loss Prevention or investigative techniques (e.g., Certified Forensic Interviewer) are a plus.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications like Excel.
