Role Summary

Supervise and coordinate all Logistics activities between Suppliers and Customers and all areas of organization i.e.: Operational, Program Managers and/or other divisional designates.

All aspects & functions involved in Materials; Customer Service, Shipping and Receiving the effectiveness and productivity of the Materials department, supporting the production, engineering and quality organizations of the division.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Production Control & Logistics functions with the objective of optimizing the total cost of Logistics cost and Inventory Turns, utilizing the sources vented out by MPT corporate Purchasing and Supplier Development. 
Lead development strategic supply chain for the division
Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology
Ensure suppliers respond appropriately to the program management requirements including issues of delivery, cost or quality up to PPAP.
Responsible to Manage production scheduling to ensure continuous meeting of customer requirements.
Responsible for ensuring efficient levels of packaging and dunnage inventory are maintained at all times and customer requirements are met.
Responsible for all shipments in-out of the building to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
Maintain Supplier Web and MRP system by ensuring cycle counts are accurate and done in a timely manner.
Responsible for customers’ satisfaction through delivery, service and quality. Ensures that Materials Department works efficiently with all departments to coordinate movement of product to meet customer requirements. Prepare daily and weekly releases for all material suppliers, (packaging, steel, components, etc.), to ensure that customer requirements are met. Ensure all releases are sent in timely manner and ASN’s are received from suppliers upon shipment of goods.
Responsible for expediting product required as needed and ensure that shipping department works with Production Supervisors, Purchasing, Quality Assurance Department and other departments as necessary. 
Responsible for shipping/receiving staff to ensure that duties and responsibilities of each are carried out in a competent manner, following all safety rules and plant standards. 
Manages the daily shipment of product to the customer. Communicate any material shortages to the Operations Manager 
Responsible for generation of daily pick list based on customer requirements, ensures organization and staging of all shipments. 
Ensures Organization of shipments with assigned trucking companies. 
Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting
Prepare Monthly, Quarterly Reports for Material Cost & Logistics Performance and Open Issues – Highlights on a timely basis. Resolve any disputes that may exist.
Chair Weekly Logistics Team meetings, keep track of KMIs, Open Issues, Supplier Cost Recoveries and other assigned by General Manager.
Communicate the necessary information to General Manager to assist in decision making and strategy formulation
Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.
Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained in all levels of parts,
Ensure FIFO principals are applied in the management of material flow through out 14Mile and 15Mile Plants in Warehouse, WIP and Steel/Blanks Storage areas,
Ensure 100% delivery performance to all customers,
Responsible for the cost savings in the supply chain management,
Ensure inventory obsolescence are avoided through engineering change management process,
Accountable for the cycle counts and inventory accuracy,
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Travel may be required.
Work well with others in a team.
Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA’s).
Active participation in MAFACT Teams and activities as required.
Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits Cost saving improvement suggestions.
C-TPAT Support as required.
Responsible for MAFACT Requirements and Improvements according the responsibilities.
Responsible to create Actions Plans, Corrective Actions and Improvements required according the responsibilities. (Ex: 8ds, FR, LPAs, MAFACT Score, Magna Audits Findings, Customer Requirements, MMOG, C-TPAT and Others as required).
Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including TS16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook. 
Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment).
This job has supervisory responsibilities.        Manages the activities of employees in the department and distributes their work as necessary
Resolves work problems and recommends work measures to improve productivity
Controls working hours of employees within department through time and attendance system; ensures attendance is monitored and approves vacation, floaters etc. through Vacation tracking system
Reviews work performance of employees within department and makes recommendations regarding future work assignments and merit increases
Performs interviews and orientations as required
Ensures employees within department receive the proper training to complete their job expectations; update technical training checklists in a timely manner (if applicable)
Ensures all workers are trained on and abide by related TS16949 and ISO 14001 work instructions at all times
Conduct regular departmental team meetings
Encourage good housekeeping at all times and complete ‘5S’ checklist on a monthly basis
Responsible for departmental financial budgets
Implement team cross-functional training
Coordinate and work with other department Mangers and Team members to ensure proactively identify and address any issues.
Provide support and ensure new business launch activities with Engineering and Quality are on track and all Material tasks are closed on time.

Additional Information

BS Degree required with a business or technical emphasis
10+ years of experience in Purchasing, Production Control or Accounts Payable (Finance) or related field within a manufacturing facility in automotive industry.
Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.
Proven understanding, planning and execution of production schedules 
Familiarity in automotive engineering, including various levels of exposure and strategic experience with: product design, product development, and product validation.
Familiarity in sheet metal forming solutions is preferred.
Proven experience as a consensus builder as a supervisor.
Finely developed internal and external customer service capabilities.
Consistent ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables while treating team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee’s Charter, which includes a commitment to fair treatment and a safe and healthful workplace.
Able to communicate well with people at all levels
Possess good organizational skills, be self-starter and a team player
Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans.

Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
