reporting to the Director of Logistics, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for continuous improvement, transportation logistics operations and customer service functions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business processes and practices (Sales channels, Procurement, Retail)
- Drive a corporate cross-functional consensus behind a shared vision of transportation logistics and distribution
- Develop business cases, build cross functional consensus and present to leadership proposals for projects with recommended implementation plans
- Develop hypotheses for improvement projects based on observed practices and gathered empirical data, examples including optimization of logistics routes (Sales Channels)
- Design of key reports used for daily / weekly / monthly KPIs tracking (data extract / cleanup and final report publishing with relevant value add insights)
- Manages and assess carrier’s performance and reports operational metrics (KPIs) to senior management, as well as any regulatory reporting requirements related to transportation and logistics activities.
- Define and drive development and implementation of needed transportation processes and systems
- Drive site specific requirements at cross docks, warehouses, and ports to support the most efficient transportation operations possible
- Analyze the financial impact of proposed transportation changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.
- Issue statistical or detailed reporting for stakeholders as requested including operation efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
- Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.
- Manage project logistics as directed (ad hoc, specialty, etc)
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate transportation logistics with business systems or processes.
- Work with other departments to optimize and meet transportation requirements.
- Design models for use in evaluating transportation programs or services.
- Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics. (Walmart, Sam’s Club)
- Define scope and priorities of analytics team to measure all relevant aspects of inbound and outbound transportation logistics.
- Anticipate challenges and disruptions to transportation flow and design mitigation strategies
- Drive planning for adequate carrier capacity and storage space to keep pace with volume growth
- Prepare and Manage the department budget acting as a liaison to finance
- Work with IT business intelligence partners to highlight and resolve system issues and/or data inconsistencies
- Help in troubleshooting and resolving complex business systems issues.
- Other Ad Hoc assignments and responsibilities as assigned

- Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco & Amazon a plus
- CPG products experience required with food and beverage background preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
