Job Description
Summary of Position: The Logistics Manager is responsible for coordination of the flow of goods, resources and information required by the supply chain and the shipment of finished products to ensure processes run effectively and smoothly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor purchasing, shipping and inventory team members
- Improve overall efficiency of supply chain and logistics operations
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to ensure suppliers have capacity to meet business requirements
- Resolve bottlenecks or problem areas within the supply chain
- Assign part numbers and enter into inventory database
- Review pricing and job costing for reconciliation
- Review and confirm changes to equipment specifications with Engineers
- Proactively maintain relationships with vendors (cost control, backorders, blanket orders, lead time, etc.)
- Develop and implement strategies to plan and manage logistics, warehouse, transportation and customer services including domestic and international orders
- Direct, optimize and coordinate full order cycle
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers and internal managers
- Monitor quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency
- Supervise annual inventory process
- Maintain clean and safe work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Understanding of best practices in supply chain management
- Ability to lead, mentor and train staff individually and as a team
- Strong business and contractual negotiation skills
- Familiarity with safety regulations including OSHA
- Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree (or 8+ years experience)
- Minimum 5 years similar experience
- Experience in trade practices and export compliance
