Logistics Assistant (Temporary)

Sparrow Company, an executive search and staffing firm, has an immediate opening for a Logistics Assistant for one of our clients in the New Braunfels, TX area. This is a long term temporary opportunity for 9 months and possibly longer.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting optimum customer service as it relates to all deliveries.
Job Responsibilities:

• Maintaining assigned accounts and providing ongoing customer support.
• Evaluating business processes, assessing risks, and recommending improvements to achieve KPIs.
• Collaborating with other departments to optimize logistical services and arranging shipment and transportation details with carrier agents.
• Review and verify invoices and check requests.
• Sort, code, and match payments.
• Enter and upload invoices into an accounting system.
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
• Maintain vendor files, correspond with vendors, and respond to inquiries.
• Produce monthly reports.
• Assist with month-end closing.
• Provide supporting documentation for audits.
• Communicate appropriate product pick-up and delivery requirements
• Assist Transportation Operations Manager on customer service issues
• Receive next-day customer requirements from Customer Care Center.
• Assist Transportation Manager and Regional Logistics Director on contracts negotiation with carriers
• Must comply with company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification:

• 2-5 years of experience in logistics (load planning and dispatch)
• Highly proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Previous experience in sales, shipping, receiving, logistics, or warehousing will be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate with internal and external groups.
• Strong attention to detail
• Possesses analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize projects, allocate resources and interact with all levels of an organization
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Being able to work in a fast-paced work environment

Schedule:

• 8-hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime
