A Loan Specialist to join our team! As the Loan Specialist, you will underwrite, process, fund and service all types of consumer loans. This includes underwriting and processing for both the Indirect Lending and Consumer Lending departments as needed, using both Lending 360 and MeridianLink loan origination systems. You will maintain excellent business relationships with participating dealerships in a high-volume environment. As the Loan Specialist, you will assist members with inquiries, requests, and/or problems in a friendly, respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

As a Loan Specialist you will…
- Participate in underwriting, funding, and servicing of a full range of consumer loans within lending authority limits; evaluate background information including employment history, credit history and debt to income ratio of applicants for loans, lines of credit, and VISA credit cards. Make credit decisions; approve/decline loans; evaluate risk; determine collateral needs and set terms for approved and modification of loans or identify reasons for denial. Review title paperwork and loan documentation.
- Receive, process and fund indirect (CUDL) funding packets.
- Review MSRP, NADA, or Kelley Wholesale guide for vehicle valuation.
- Maintain positive dealer relationships in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
- Maintain awareness of current trends in consumer credit financing.
- Analyze pay stubs and tax returns to determine income verification.
- Verify rate, term, and all stipulations are met including proof of income.
- Open new accounts obtained through all lending programs; input relevant information into computer system; prepare and send Welcome Packets for new members obtained through lending programs; audit loan files as assigned, to ensure compliance; respond to member inquiries regarding loans.
- Review signed membership application card (if applicable) and copies of Washington State DL.
- Ensure that purchase orders are signed.
- Maintain servicing of Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) and Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP).
- Responsible for ensuring all documents and information is complete prior to disbursement.
- Verify that the title application has Sound Credit Union listed as the lien holder. Verify that correct applicants are listed on the title application.
- Ensure that copies of the service, GAP, LoJack, and CL&D contracts are present; or any other type of ancillary products (if applicable).
- Verify that the agreement to furnish insurance has Sound Credit Union listed as the loss payee.
- Verify that a valid copy of the insurance card is with the funding packet.
- Ensure that there is a Risk Based Pricing Notice (if applicable).
- Ensure that there is a signed credit application.
- Verify signed WA LAW Contract and check the dealer assignment is accurate.
Our ideal candidate will bring to the team…
- Two years of experience processing and underwriting consumer loans required.
- Dealer funding environment preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Your compensation:
At Sound Credit Union we believe in paying our employees a fair and living wage. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s prior experience and education level as it pertains to their role. This strategy promotes a talented and empowering work environment that we hope you will be a part of! Our pay ranges are built to allow for candidates with various levels of skill and experience to be considered, as well as for room for growth and tenure achieved in a role over time. Typical new hire salary offers fall within the minimum to midpoint of a pay range for many candidates, which allows us to offer merit-based salary increases.
Minimum: $28.08
Midpoint: $35.10
Maximum: $42.12
Your hours:
A hybrid schedule Monday - Friday: 9:30 am – 6:00 pm with rotating weekends.
In your role you will have the ability to combine in-person and remote work after being fully trained.
