Job Title: Universal Agent

A Team that always remembers who we work for (the members) and the awesome trust they have given us with their hard earned funds (over $10,000/member).The Universal Agent position is a multi-faceted position which encompasses the role of Loan Officer, new account representative, branch sales person, teller and assistant to the branch manager. This person is responsible for developing and maintaining member loan and account growth at any of our locations. Universal Agents must have a strong understanding of Trans West's loan products, account products, and other products and services. This individual will assist in managing, training and overseeing branch staff.

Think of the Universal Agent as a personal shopper but without having to lie and say, "You look fabulous in that!" when it actually terrifies you. The point is, it's a big deal and a large responsibility so we hope you're ready. We want you to build relationships with your Members so when they have a financial need, they think of you first. That means you'll need to have a great smile and be an active listener.

Whether in person, or on the phone, we expect every Member to have a great experience when they deal with a TransWest Credit Union Universal Agent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • One year experience as a consumer Loan Officer or related work experience
  • Conduct loan interviews, evaluate loan applications and documentation to determine credit worthiness
  • Develop creative solutions for existing clients and business development
  • Support the branch manager in his/her role to maintain and grow the branch
  • Interview members to understand their financial situations and suggest the best products or services that meet their needs.
  • Inspect, prepare, analyze, process all required new account and loan documents
  • Approve loans within their authority or forward to a branch manager or Credit Manager.
  • Identify cross sell opportunities and make outbound sales calls
  • Proactively develop and maintain relationships with existing members and potential members
  • Open, close, and update New Accounts. Be proficient in opening personal, business and trust accounts. Understand New account procedures and Red Flag program
  • Refer members to appropriate credit union personnel in order to meet their financial needs (investments, mortgages)
  • Assist in scheduling, supervising, training and developing staff, as requested by branch manager
  • Respond to member inquiries and concerns and create positive solutions for them and the credit union
  • Support staff by approving/overseeing transactions as needed, assist with balancing issues and verifications of cash outages as needed
  • Perform teller duties as required
  • Be a positive role model for all employees

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Knowledge and experience with financial products and services a big plus. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate a personal computer, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet application, and relevant software to access the credit union's accounting system and member account information. Basic input, output, error correction, and general ledger account structure knowledge is essential to be able to perform the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; type and happily interact with our Members. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
