Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring raw materials are properly received, stored and loaded for production. Also responsible for performing routine maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring that the yard area is properly maintained and organized and assisting “walk up” customers with loading materials as needed.
Essential Job Duties/Functions
- Observes incoming raw materials to ensure required specifications are met.
- Operates a front-end loader un-load raw materials and place in proper bin location.
- Retrieves appropriate material with front-end loader according to specifications given by the batch operator and loads material in proper bin for processing.
- Works in other areas when needed.
- Conducts physical inventory of raw materials as needed.
- Performs routine maintenance on front-end loader/forklift, skid steer.
- Performs general housekeeping tasks in and around the plant building and yard as needed.
- Maintains the overall orderly organization of equipment and supplies in and around the yard and plant.
- Maintains cleanliness and appearance of plant grounds.
- Other duties as directed by the plant manager.
- Moves material from stockpiles and loads into ground bins for ready mix and the block plant.
- Cleans the central mixer out as well as the mixer room at the end of every day using a pressure washer.
- Helps the maintenance team with repairs to the central mixer or other plant repairs.
- Responsible for pushing up any concrete that has been brought back and dumped in the designated area.
- Responsible for pouring, stripping, and resetting barrier block forms.
- Greasing all lube points on the ready-mix plant and conveyors.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
- Valid/current driver’s license.
- Experience with general or routine maintenance tasks.
- Ability to safely operate a front-end loader and forklift.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instruction and work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to read, write and distinguish colors.

Physical Demands
- Occasional bending, stooping and kneeling.

- Frequent use of foot pressure to operate clutch and transmission.
- Occasional periods of walking across uneven surfaces
Environmental Conditions (Personal Protective Equipment is provided where necessary or requested)
- Majority of work performed outside.
- Exposure to elements of weather including heat, cold, rain and dust.
- Occasionally/frequently exposed to rough, muddy, icy walking surfaces.
- Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and vibration.
- Frequent exposure to moving parts/pieces of equipment.
- Frequent exposure to cement, lime, concrete, admixtures, dust, diesel fuel and other substances that may cause burns, be toxic or explosive if handled incorrectly.
- Frequent exposure to water and wet conditions.
