Loader Operator

SUMMARY: Operate powered loader vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered forks or scoop used to transport loose bulk material to and from production lines or storage locations.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. Transports bulk loose material safely from/to designated areas on the facility’s property.

2. Operates loader controls to force forks into bulk material, then move and dump material in designated locations.

3. Driving and loading operations will be conducted over varying uneven ground surfaces and weather conditions.

4. Monitor for demand of material via computer or written/verbal direction and respond accordingly.

5. Checks that loads are secure.

6. Performs routine cleaning of the vehicle and preventive maintenance as needed.

7. Perform daily loader equipment checks. Record vehicle checks on vehicle’s log and report deficiencies to supervisor/manager.

8. May periodically be assigned to drive a forklift in support of production operations.

9. Adheres to established safety policies & procedures and actively practices and promotes a safe environment.

10. Other duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION:

· High school diploma or GED is preferred

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

· 2+ years of practical experience operating a loader vehicle. Experience working in a manufacturing, construction or warehouse environment preferred.

· Practical experience driving a loader vehicle.

· Vehicle driver certification (forklift and loader) per OSHA standards.

· Experience performing basic preventative maintenance and maintenance checks on a loader vehicle.

· Able to climb on/off loader vehicle without assistance and sit for extended periods of time.

· Able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs. repeatedly as needed throughout shift.

· Must have good vision, able to demonstrate good hand-eye –foot coordination, able to assess weights and judge distances/heights.

· Good basis math, reading and verbal communication skills in English required.

· Able to work in varying external weather temperatures and ground/surface conditions, depending on season.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Wednesday: 12pm-6pm; Thursday-Saturday 6am-6pm. Must work on holidays that fall on your shift.
