Loader Operator-New Florence Wood Products
The Day-to-Day
New Florence Wood Products is hiring a Heavy Forklift/Loader Operator to work on the yard. A Heavy Forklift/Loader Operator is responsible for moving general production materials, loaded pallets of white oak staves, heading material, and occasionally other heavy equipment safely and securely around the property. In addition to driving heavy forklifts, a Heavy Forklift/Loader Operator also has a range of other duties such as loading and unloading pre-dryers and dry kilns with green material and staging dry material in designated areas for transportation.
Starting Wage: $21 an hour to start, raises based on experience and evaluations.
A Heavy Forklift/Loader Operator’s primary duties and responsibilities include
- Maneuvering heavy forklifts safely in a busy industrial environment with rough terrain.
- Safely unload, stack, and unstack large quantities of white oak logs, staves, and heading material.
- Maintaining adequate pallet spacing to maximize air dry capacity
- Loading trailers with white oak logs, stave pallets, and empty pallets.
- Picking up stave and heading pieces off the ground to maintain yard cleanliness and organization.
- Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from obstructions.
- Perform a pre-operation forklift safety check
- Occasional dirt work and yard maintenance.
- Attend scheduled training to stay current on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures.
Additional Requirements for Heavy Forklift Operators Include
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Some heavy lifting may be required up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to add, subtract, and count pallets to assist in inventory counts and procedures.
- Capable of exercising good judgment and sound decision-making in performing responsibilities.
- Responsible for quality of own work in an environment where errors may cause rework or scrap expense.
- Must be dependable, punctual, flexible, and cooperative.
