An Area Safety Supervisor will be responsible for driving the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex towards zero first aids, medical treatments, and lost workday cases focusing on personnel awareness and professionals following procedures to improve our safety indexes and ensuring compliance through personal involvement, coaching, recognizing unsafe conditions, working to mitigate those hazards, and participating as a member of the emergency response team. This position will also be responsible for ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed for the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex.
Additional Job Duties:
- Implements plans to improve overall Area safety performance and recommends corrective action
- Participates in basic and advanced PSSR and MOC meetings
- Completes closure of action items identified and assigned as a result of corporate or other agency audit findings
- Reviews and updates assigned SIH procedures to ensure consistency with regulatory and corporate standards
- Participates on FIT (Field Investigation Team) for initial incident investigations
- Participates in higher level incident investigations as an assigned team member
- Performs duties as outlined in safe work permitting procedures and recommends safety precautions including controls, work methods, PPE, and monitoring
- Serves as a subject matter expert for safety questions regarding unique field work situations
- Performs audits of permitted jobs
- Attends PHA meetings on an as needed basis
- Participates as an Emergency Response Team member responding to 1, 2, and 3 alarm emergencies and completes quarterly and annual training as required
- H.S. Diploma plus 6 years of field safety or refinery operations related job experience
- Must become qualified as S101 instructor
- Must be familiar with Industrial Hygiene Fundamentals
- Must obtain Emergency Response Qualification
- Experience in Safe Work Procedures (e.g. LOTO, HEC, confined space entries, respiratory protection)
- Experience as a VERT Team member, highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license
TWIC Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.
