Job description

Total Safety is looking for an Air Shop Supervisor to join their safety conscious team! The Air Shop Supervisor ensures accuracy of inventory through monthly and annual inventory cycle counts. Coordinates functions for the shop, the field and inventory control and performs a variety of duties to ensure the proper receipt, handling, storage, and shipment of all commodities. Provides services and commodities for TAR. Troubleshooting Electrical and IT applications daily.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides input to Manager for maintaining adequate human resources to accomplish Total Safety, Inc. service goals in supporting customer needs, support inventory operations, and to ensure safety of operations.
  • Strictly adheres to all Total Safety, Inc. Procedures to achieve a consistent state of inventory control and an equipment preventative maintenance and repair schedule for all respiratory and breathing air equipment under his/her recognizance.
  • Ensures that all personnel involved in Shop Services repair activities understand they are both authorized and obligated to refuse to perform any task they deem unsafe and to report such incidents to Management in a timely manner.
  • Perform and document respiratory service and equipment repair operations in accordance with the guidelines established through quality control and company policies and procedures.
  • Subject to Manager approval assists in determining and defining personnel qualifications and subsequent assignment of Shop Technicians and equipment resources needed to sustain operations.
  • Strictly adheres to all Total Safety, Inc. Policies and Procedures to achieve a consistent state of readiness with regard to preventative maintenance and repair schedules for all respiratory equipment serviced both for Total Safety and Customer owned equipment.
  • Maintains shop tools, respiratory equipment, breathing air equipment, air hoses, high & low pressure air manifolds, and air pressure-regulating equipment.
  • Maintains above equipment in a state of readiness to support 24 hour per day dispatch in order to satisfy customer needs and demands.
  • Assists Manager in developing initiatives regarding evolving human resources and equipment needs, problem prevention and corrective action programs, and continuous improvement of Shop's standard operating procedures
  • Assists Manager to oversee and insure that the Shop Services-Air Division operates in strict compliance with industry and regulatory standards and, including the Alert Non-Compliance, Corrective Action and Continuous Improvement Programs.
  • Identifies needs and submits purchase requests for equipment and materials to sustain Shop Service-Air Operations.
  • Stays up with current technology related to types of respiratory equipment serviced and operated; i.e., Safety Bulletins and/or other manufacturer's technical bulletins.
  • Remains current in obtaining refresher training to sustain training certification on all equipment on which he/she performs maintenance and/or repair.
  • Responsible for maintaining in shop inventory of all materials required for supporting Shop service and repair operations.
  • Performs computer data entry and administration using Rentalman Materials & Products Management System.
  • Conducts repair parts inventory cycle counts each quarter.
  • Assists Operations department in conducting annual, or as required, periodic rental asset material and equipment inventories.
  • Maintains competency in the operation of Rentalman system in support of carrying out his/her assigned responsibilities.
  • Encourages and supports professional development and training of subordinates to maintain competency and current in changing technology.
  • Conducts employee performance evaluations for personnel under his/her recognizance, to be conducted on an annual or semi-annual basis.
  • Reports status of operational issues to the Manager, Field/Shop Services-Air on an ongoing basis.
  • Continuously strives to upgrade skills and capabilities to be able to handle new assignments and responsibilities consistent with company needs.
  • Maintains a high state of integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Performs all other special duties assigned by the Manager, Field/Shop Services-Air.

Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of two years operations experience in the petrochemical or industrial safety equipment industry.
  • Related, progressive experience with exposure to applying fundamental terms, concepts, practices, and procedures in materials management and inventory transactions.
  • Lead experience or training with understanding of human relations and training preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and recommend efficient and effective solutions to problems.
  • Excellent PC skills with thorough knowledge of MS Office programs, and proficiency with specialized, function-related applications such as AS400 based Rental Man. Ability to train others to use system.
  • Ability to develop spreadsheets and modify formats to complete assignments and ability to recommend improvements.
  • Ability to maintain data integrity, extract data, perform calculations and prepare reports accurately and timely.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data.
  • Above average organization and communication skills required to interact with multiple internal, external & managerial contacts.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle diverse tasks simultaneously.
  • Forklift certification as required by facility.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to speak Spanish not required, but considered a plus

Working Environment:
Work is typically performed in the shop, which is a hazardous environment. Safety considerations include but are not limited to electrical, heat and fire, mechanical hazards, radiation, fumes and deposits, noise, equipment operation, heavy materials moving, and working in close quarters, working at great heights, and driving hazards. Educational Requirements:
High School education or G.E.D. Additional specialized courses or associate degree in related field preferred or internal experience with exposure to materials management and inventory control and some product knowledge.
