Linux Software Engineer Intern

SEL's R&D Communications, Networking, and Precise Time Group is searching for an intern to work on our embedded Linux products in Boise, ID. With us, you will be exposed to all facets of development, from kernel level up to web interfaces. As a Linux Software Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

• Developing software and firmware from the Linux kernel up to web interfaces
• Working with engineers writing secure code on networking and time products
• Writing functional tests to verify required product behavior
• Support SEL's software development process
• Verify that software meets requirements.
• Implement firmware/software design.
• Provide support to engineering staff as needed.
• Follow engineering quality assurance procedures.
• Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.

This job might be for you if:

• You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with at least one year of technical coursework completed
• You enjoy a wide breadth of computer technical challenges
• You love Linux, working with and on it
• You have programming experience in C#, C++, Java or equivalent OO programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using scripting languages, such as Python or C
• Practical knowledge of developing Linux/POSIX applications
• Knowledge of Firmware, Hardware, RTL
• Knowledge of IP/Networking technologies
• Experience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, and Rational ClearCase

Pay Range Data
($17.00 - $26.50 per hour) Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
